Reflex Information:
All positive antibody screens will have antibody identified. If antibodies are clinically significant, they will be titered and an aliquot will be frozen for use in comparison in future titers.

Specimen Requirements
Lavender EDTA whole blood, Pink K2 EDTA whole blood, and serum are required.
Blood for Prenatal Type and Screen
Draw blood in a large, pink-top (K2 EDTA) tube, and send 6 mL of K2 EDTA whole blood. (Clotted or hemolyzed specimen is not acceptable.)
Note: Label specimen with patient’s first and last name and medical record number.
Blood for CBC with Differential
Specimen must arrive within 24 hours of draw.
Draw blood in a lavender-top (EDTA) tube, and send 4 mL of EDTA whole blood. (Clotted or hemolyzed specimen is not acceptable.)
Note: Label specimen appropriately (blood for CBC).
Serum for HBsAg and HIV Ag/Ab
Draw blood in a tiger-top serum gel tube, and send 2 mL of serum refrigerated. (Hemolyzed specimen is not acceptable.)
Serum for Rubella, and Syphilis Serology
Draw gold-top serum tube (hemolyzed specimen is not acceptable.) Spin down and send 10 mL of serum refrigerated.
Note: Label specimen appropriately (serum for Rubella and Syphilis Serology).
