Specimen Requirements

Collect specimen as follows:

1. Using a lead pencil, label frosted end of glass slide with patient’s first and last name and Social Security number prior to obtaining specimen.

2. Using a sterile, cotton-tipped swab or pipette, obtain vaginal liquid pool specimen and transfer to glass slide.

3. Allow slide to air dry.

4. Place slide in a slide/cardboard holder.

5. Deliver specimen to Hematology Laboratory immediately.
