Specimen Requirements

Collection Container/Tube
Preferred: Light Green Lithium Heparin
Acceptable: Gold top/Red SST Serum or Plain Red Serum
 
Submission Container/Tube: Plastic vial
Specimen Volume: 1 mL

Minimum Volume: 0.3 mL

Specimen Instructions: 
1. Gel barrier tubes should be centrifuged within 2 hours of collection.
2. Plain red-top tubes should be centrifuged and serum separated into aliquot tube within 2 hours of collection.

3. If the specimen is being sent to another facility for testing, store and send the appropriate sample refridgerated.

Additional Information: Patient's age and sex are required.
