Specimen Requirements

1. Gently insert a double culture transport swab about 1 inch into the nose.

2. Rotate against nasal wall and remove swab. Repeat on other side.

3. Return double swab to culture transport tube to ensure specimen preservation.

(Improperly labeled specimen is not acceptable.)

4. Label tube with patient's name (first and last), date and time of collection, type of specimen and collector's initials.

5. Maintain sterility and forward promptly.
