Specimen Requirements

Specimen must arrive within 1 hour of collection.

1. Collect vaginal discharge on a culture transport swab.

2. Place swab in a tube containing 2 to 3 mL of saline.

3. Label tube with patient’s name (first and last), date and time of collection, type of specimen, and collector’s initials.

4. Forward promptly.
