Specimen Requirements

1. Instruct individual taking sample to remove cap from vial and press sticky surface of paddle (marked: “sticky side”)   against the perianal skin of patient with moderate pressure.  The optimum time for obtaining sample is early in the morning prior to rising.

2. Place paddle back in vial.  Label vial with patient’s name (first and last), date and time of collection, type of specimen, and collector’s initials.  Send to laboratory.
