Test Code LAB2428 PSA Reflex to Free PSA

Important Note

A Total PSA will be performed. The normal range is </=4.00 ng/mL. 

If the Total PSA is greater than 4.000 ng/mL and less than or equal to 10.000 ng/mL, a reflex Free PSA will be ordered and done automatically.  If the Total PSA is not in that range, only the Total PSA will be performed.

Specimen Requirements

Draw blood in a gold top tube. Plain red and tiger top SST are acceptable. Centrifuge immediately after collection. If sample does not have gel barrier, promptly seperate from contact with cells after centrifugation and send 1.5 mL of serum. Refrigerate if not tested within 2 hours of collection. Keep at refrigerated temperatures during courier transport.
