Specimen Requirements

Draw blood in a plain, red-top tube or serum gel tube. Spin down and send 1 mL of serum. Serum for a peak level should be drawn 30 minutes after completion of infusion of an intravenous dose or 60 minutes after an intramuscular or oral dose of amikacin.
